Abstract

This article focuses on how values can be understood by students living in two different cultures. The objective of this research was to analyze the idea of values these students had and compare the two groups. The subject was composed by two groups of students from Germany and Brazilian universities. Theoretical foundation was the study of Lawrence Kohlberg about ethical thinking in different cultures. Students were asked to answer questionnaires about values. Data were collected and categorized according to Laurence Bardin’s methodological approach. Results show that there are much more similarities than differences concerning values between these groups though students belong to cultures that are identified as different cultures. This research is important to all those interested in multiculturalism and humanity.
