TEACHING AND RESEARCH IN BASIC EDUCATION
the importance of documentary analysis of textbooks
Abstract
The study aims to take part in the current discussions about research, "educational innovation" and "teaching profession" (Imbernón, 2010), in the Teaching of Reading; and demonstrate that, despite numerous academic publications of qualities and inadequacies of teaching collections in portuguese language (2009 - 2013), intended for Basic Education, the need for educational users of these cultural products themselves assume the status of researchers and make documentary analyses of these materials before using them in the classroom remains. The methodology involved a review of Bakhtin's Theory of Intertextuality and a documentary analysis of a textbook (selected by the authors) in order to demonstrate the final results which confirmed the importance of research training for Basic Education teachers for a higher quality teaching of reading.
