Abstract

This study aimed to characterize the profile of Youth and Adult Education students of a city
of São Paulo state, and to describe the pedagogical practices developed with the students with
disabilities. The study adopted a qualitative approach and used a student characterization
script and semi-structured interview. The results show that the number of students with
disabilities is increasing and that there are more males and youths. Intellectual Disability was
found to be predominant among the students with disabilities. In this process the school exerts
a fundamental role. However, for this to happen effectively it is necessary to rethink the
educational proposals of Youth and Adult Education.
