Abstract

The work aims to examine approaches and trends in production of knowledge about elementary school, in the southern region of Brazil, based on the empirical papers presented in the seminars of AnpedSul, in the period between the years of 1998 to 2012. Prioritized themes, perspectives points announced and the confrontation needed, given the way to this segment occupies in educational policies since the promulgation of the current LDB, Who established the EF as compulsory, free and step for the basic training of the citizen. In the light of the analyses undertaken, highlights scope and limits of scientific production around the theme and enhance necessary confrontations of the emergence of new thematic associated especially to improving the quality of basic education in Brazil.
