INTERDISCIPLINARY PRACTICES IN AGRONOMY TEACHING

Abstract

Starting from a critic of the science traditional paradigm of it is possible to bring about an analyse of the consequences for education and training of agronomists that is gaping with the needs of Brazilian agricultural sector. The paper brings an analysis starting from a public university in which the agricultural faculty has more than hundred years and, due to that, its tradition is intense and its culture is resistant to changes, either in the curse programme or in the pedagogical practices. Even so, a group of lecturers is proposing to the students an interdisciplinary experience, using the methodology of projects, placed in the ninth semester of the curse programme, in which the students need to combine theory and practices, besides taught subjects and research. The paper describes the methodological approach and analyses the results that are indicating an education model aiming emancipation. The theoretical basis is Freire, Cunha, Silva, Gutiérrez e Prado.
