THE PRODUCTION OF DIGITAL EDUCATION TELEVISION
the Salto Para o Futuro show in the light of critical theory
Abstract
Could television be a vehicle for the stimulation of Integral Cultural Formation, in the strict sense of the Bildung concept, as developed by Theodor W. Adorno? Based on this question, this article resulted from the examination of Content and Form of an episode of the educational television program Salto para o Futuro (TV Escola / MEC / Brazil). The analysis pointed out that in the program there is the supremacy of Form (the television news) in relation to Content and that the discursive pattern identified in the messages consisted of repetition of the cliché specialist teacher hero: through technology he could skip the historical contradictions of his or her time. In fact, the production of the program seems to involve the same elements that generate the products of Cultural Industry, so that only through a radical change of its dynamics we can use television for educational purposes.
