#WOMEN’SPRING
the blooming of feminismo on social networks
Abstract
This paper aims to analyse how narratives of the self have been used on social networks to promote feminism, havig the Who Needs Feminism campaign, that turned viral in 2012, as its empirical object. The methodology was quantitative, descriptive and analytical, presenting a theoretical framework about the subject-matter and thereafter the campaign’s description and analysis based on how the narratives of the self were used to promote feminism. The results show that the narratives of the self, much more than narcissistic expression of the ego, are being used to turn a cause visible, as well as create pedagogies and new ways of being, while celebrating subjectivities.
