Abstract

The Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) is na instrument that guides the inclusion of students with disabilities, widely used in several countries. It is a pedagogical proposal of actions to be shared between managers, teachers, specialized professionals and parents, to promote student’s learning. Students with autism seem to be specially benefited by the IEP due to the adaptative potential of this instrument to meet the heterogeneity of the learning profiles of this syndrome. The objective of this study is to present a conceptual analysis of the IEP, including the presentation of its legal bases and theoretical conceptions, approches and divergences from other forms of planning, in order to discuss the possibilities of support that this instrument can offer for the teaching of students with autism. It is concluded that the IEP can fill a gap in the inslusion of these students through the collaborative work among the school staff.
