Abstract

Currently, there are examples of school curricula, which treat sign languages as first languages of the deaf children and, subsequently, as units of study throughout the school grades. This paper provides a historical overview of such curricula development, and brings into discussion an European example; the national public school Curriculum of the Greek Sign Language (GSL) in Greece. Its content and aims are presented.
