Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of 55 works on Research Groups in the field of Education in Brazil. From the reviewed works, three main implications for the construction of a research agenda on Research Groups are presented: a) there is the need to expand the ethico-ontoepistemological foundations for research on Research Groups; b) the expansion of interlocution with the national and international literature; and c) the expansion of research focus on Research Groups. It is argued that Research Groups are strongly embedded in the research culture, especially in Graduate Studies and that, in Brazil and Latin America, Research Groups need greater appreciation and recognition within institutions and funding agencies.
