Abstract

This article proposes to reflect on the netnographic method as a resource to investigate themes crossed by information and communication technologies. The methodology in question consists of expanding the epistemological foundations of ethnography to the virtual context. The intention is to work with the
systematization of netnography as a possible way to understand cultural phenomena and study online communities. For this, this text presents as an objective detail about the work with the methodology since the entry into the field until the constitution of the research findings. To think about the concepts that
underlie netnography, we present notes on how to conduct research with children, bringing as an example of research the experiences of children in digital culture, particularly their relationship with the digital media youtube. In short, the article presents the argument that netnography has powerful scientific rigor to investigate issues related to the expansion of the internet and its consequences in everyday life
